Ingredients You’ll Need

Just a few pantry staples come together to make this almond joy smoothie recipe:

  • Coconut Milk: I recommend using canned coconut milk since it has a higher fat content which makes this smoothie super creamy.
  • Almond Butter: Just 2 tablespoons packs a punch of almond flavor and adds healthy fats + protein.
  • Banana: You really don’t taste it! It adds natural sweetness and a creamy texture. I recommend using a frozen banana, but a regular one works too.
  • Cocoa Powder: For that rich chocolate flavor.
  • Maple Syrup: Adds just the right amount of natural sweetness.
  • Toppings: This is where it gets fun… I like to jazz up this smoothie with toasted coconut flakes, cacao nibs, and a drizzle of chocolate date syrup.

Ingredient Substitutions

This smoothie recipe is customizable depending on what you have on hand.

  • Swap the banana for coconut milk ice cubes. This requires some planning ahead (unless you randomly have coconut milk ice cubes in your freezer), but if you really don’t like banana, you can use 4-5 coconut milk ice cubes instead.
  • Don’t have maple syrup? Use agave, 1-2 medjool dates, coconut sugar, or honey (if you’re not vegan).

I don’t recommend substituting the coconut milk as that’s what adds the coconut flavor.
