These Blueberry Muffin Overnight Oats are a healthy make-ahead breakfast made with oats, wild blueberries, and vegan yogurt. Thick, creamy, and naturally sweet, they taste just like a blueberry muffin in breakfast form!

Whenever I want an easy and healthy breakfast, overnight oats are the first thing that comes to mind. Not only are they quick to make and perfect for meal prep, but the flavors possibilities are endless! From tiramisu overnight oats, to pistachio overnight oats, and now these blueberry muffin overnight oats.
These blueberry overnight oats get their beautiful color and naturally sweet flavor from soaking the oats overnight with a super simple blueberry compote made from just frozen wild blueberries + maple syrup.
The next morning, they’re topped with yogurt and a crunchy, high-protein crumble that mimics everyones favorite part of a blueberry muffin: the crumble topping.

Ingredients Needed
Just a few pantry staples come together to make these creamy blueberry oats.

- Quick Oats: I’ve made overnight oats with all different kinds of oats, and I’ve concluded that quick oats are the best. They soften beautifully to create that super creamy texture.
- Non-Dairy Milk: Almond, soy, or oat milk all work. I like using soy milk for extra protein.
- Frozen Wild Blueberries: I use frozen wild blueberries. They’re smaller and sweeter than regular blueberries, and they give the oats that beautiful purple color.
- Almond Butter: Mixed into the oats to add a creamy texture.
- Maple Syrup: Adds just the right amount of natural sweetness.
- Vanilla Extract: A little vanilla enhances the muffin-like flavor.
- Vegan Yogurt: Use your favorite creamy yogurt for topping.
- Granola or Cereal: For a bakery-style crumble topping and a little crunch. I use Catalina Crunch Blueberry Muffin Protein Cereal for an extra burst of blueberry flavor.

How to Make Blueberry Muffin Overnight Oats
This blueberry overnight oats recipe is as easy as stir, chill, and serve!

- Make the blueberry compote: Add the blueberries and maple syrup to a small saucepan over medium heat. Let them simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the berries break down and become jammy. Set aside to cool.
- Mix the oats: In a jar or bowl, combine the oats, non-dairy milk, almond butter, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and 1/2 of the blueberry compote. Stir until everything is well combined.
- Refrigerate overnight: Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight so the oats can thicken.
- Add toppings: Before serving, top with vegan yogurt, the remaining blueberry compote, and granola or crushed cereal (I use crushed Catalina Crunch Blueberry Muffin Protein Cereal for an extra burst of blueberry flavor). Enjoy!
Megan’s Tips
- Use frozen wild blueberries. This is key! You can find them at most grocery stores in the freezer section. They’re sweeter and have a deeper blueberry flavor.
- Adjust the sweetness. Taste the mixture before refrigerating and add a little more maple syrup if you prefer sweeter oats.
- Don’t skip the overnight soak! An overnight soak gives the oats a thick and creamy texture and allows the flavors to really burst.
- Add the crunch just before serving. If you’re using granola or cereal, add it right before eating so it stays crunchy.
Variations of Blueberry Overnight Oats
- For a boost of protein, mix in one scoop of your favorite vanilla protein powder
- Add ½ teaspoon of lemon zest for a lemon-blueberry twist
- Use certified gluten-free oats to keep this recipe gluten-free.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I heat up overnight oats?
Yes! In my opinion, these blueberry overnight oats taste best cold, but you can warm them in the microwave for 30–60 seconds or on the stovetop if you prefer. If the oats are too thick, just add a splash of non-dairy milk. And obviously heat them up before adding the toppings!
How long do overnight oats last in the fridge?
They’ll keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3–4 days. Just give them a quick stir before serving and add a splash of non-dairy milk if they’ve thickened.
