What Are Energy Balls?

Energy balls, also known as bliss balls or energy bites, are nutritious no-bake treats made from healthy ingredients that are high in energy and protein. Most energy ball recipes use dates as a base, which not only add natural sweetness but also help bind the ingredients together due to their sticky texture.

These wholesome snacks are perfect for on-the-go munching, breakfast options, or a post-workout pick-me-up.

How to Make Pecan Pie Energy Balls in 2 Easy Steps

  1. In a food processor, combine dates, pecans, oats, ground flaxseed, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt. Process until the mixture starts to come together. Then, add 2 tablespoons of water and continue processing until it forms into a ball. If it’s still crumbly, add a teaspoon of water until the mixture sticks together easily.
  2. Scoop out 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll it into a ball. Repeat until all the mixture is used.

Optional Add-Ins:

  • Roll the energy balls in chopped pecans or shredded coconut for extra texture.
  • Add mini chocolate chips for a burst of chocolate in every bite.
  • Drizzle with melted chocolate for an indulgent touch.

Tips & Tricks

  • Use fresh medjool dates. Medjool dates are the sweetest variety of dates, providing a rich caramel flavor and a chewy texture. If you only have dried dates, no worries! Soak them in warm water for 10-15 minutes to soften, then drain and pat dry before using.
  • Use a cookie scoop. To ensure your energy balls are all the same size, use a small cookie scoop when scooping out the mixture.
  • Add other flavors. Don’t be afraid to get creative! Try adding spices like nutmeg or ginger for a different flavor, or mix in other ingredients like cocoa powder for a chocolatey twist.
