If you love creamy, oil-free salad dressings that are quick and easy to make, you are going to love this Lemon Tahini Dressing!
I am completely obsessed with this sauce, and have been for the past few years. It’s rich, nutty, tangy, and bright—perfect for drizzling over salads, grain bowls, roasted veggies, in wraps, and more. Trust me, it tastes good on just about everything!
This dressing recipe is vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, and oil-free.
What Is Tahini?
Tahini is a paste made from ground sesame seeds, also known as sesame butter. It has a rich, nutty flavor and a creamy texture, making it the perfect base for this dressing. Tahini is packed with healthy fats, fiber, and vitamins, plus it offers antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits!
Tahini is also a key ingredient in hummus and falafel, and it can even be used in cookies and desserts! It’s a must-have staple in my kitchen.
Key Ingredients

- Tahini: The star ingredient! Make sure to use a smooth, runny tahini—not one that’s thick and firm. My favorites are Trader Joe’s, Soom, and Seed + Mill.
- Lemon Juice: Adds a bright, tangy element.
- Nutritional Yeast: For a “cheesy” umami taste and extra vitamins.
- Maple Syrup: Just a tablespoon to lift the flavors. If you’re not vegan, feel free to substitute for honey.
- Seasonings: sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
- Water: This helps thin the dressing to a pourable consistency without the need for olive oil!
How To Make Creamy Lemon Tahini Dressing
It’s so easy! Simply mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl until it reaches a creamy, pourable consistency. Depending on the thickness of your tahini, you may need to add a little more water to get the perfect texture and desired consistency.

This creamy dressing is so versatile and tastes good drizzled on just about anything! Here are some of my favorite ways to enjoy it:
- In salads
- Drizzled on grain bowls or buddha bowls

I really enjoyed the lemon-tahini dressing. It was very tasty. I would make it again for sure. #happyholidays
I’m so glad you loved this dressing! Thanks for sharing your review 🙂
This dressing was a bit bitter to me made as is, so I added some more maple syrup and that made it better. To be honest, I think I have bitter tastebuds. LOL My mom loved the dressing as is, so it’s definitely my tastebuds, but definitely will make this again with a little tweaking. 🙂
Glad you enjoyed the dressing and were able to adjust it to your taste buds! Thanks for sharing 🙂
